What do you do with uninvited guests?

Situation
Mary and John invited 200 guests to their wedding. They began to receive respond cards including uninvited guests as well as uninvited children. They didn’t want to offend anyone but their reception venue only held 200 guests comfortably.

Solution
SO…
Simply give your guests a call and let them know that the room holds the amount of people you have invited which does not include any additional guests. If they say they won’t come without their additions, tell them you are sorry and they will be missed but the invitation is extended to the names on the invitation only.

When do you invite your guest with a guest?

Situation
Mary and John had to keep the number of their guests to a minimum and were unsure how to handle inviting their guest with a guest.

Solution
So…
It is acceptable to invite single guests with a guest when they have a long time steady partner, significant other, fiancé or living with someone. It is NOT OK to bring any guest, such as a child.

The best way to let your guest know that their guest needs to be appropriate is to put “adult celebration” on the respond card. They will need to fill out the card and it would be hard to miss if noted on this card.

Should we register for wedding gifts?

Situation
Mary and John have been together for several years. They didn’t find it necessary to create a gift registry.

Solution
So…
It is in the best interest of the Bride and Groom to register and SEVERAL places. Guests have shopping preferences and it is good to give them choices where to shop. But the most important thing to creating a registry is that the Bride and Groom will at least know where to return gifts if necessary. With no registry, you might end up with duplicate gifts and those which you do not wish to keep.
